YOUTH CLUB HOCKEY - START OF SEASON INFORMATION 2022_2023

The below email has been sent out to all Junior Club coordinators regarding the Start of Season Information for 2022_23. 


Hi All,

As we look forward to the new season ahead, please see all information below regarding the Youth Club competitions for season 2022-2023.
Important Dates
Monday 5th September 6pm - League & Cup Entries Closing Date

- Please note that this date has been extended to give clubs extra time but does mean both youth administrator and committees are under more pressure with a shorter turnaround time. 

- Please complete the online registration form to confirm your club entries for the season. Links below for both Junior Club Girls and Junior Club Boys competitions. 

You should refer to the updated consolidated competition rules and regulations when deciding how many teams to enter in each competition

- League teams will have up to 8 matches in the round robin stages

Monday 12th September 

-A provisional league fixtures list will issue for leagues and cups 

-Match dates can be found on the Competition calendars below. A reminder for the season ahead, there will be no postponements allowed, but clubs can agree to bring a match forward.

-Clubs typically arrange blitz events for players from primary school between themselves 


Wednesday 21st September 6pm - First Registration deadline for league players

-Registration will be online. All registrations must be received COMPLETED by 6pm on Wed 21st September. Incomplete registration forms will not be accepted.

-Details of players required are Players name, date of birth, school attending, class or year in school, Hockey Ireland membership number, team assigned

-Changes to be submitted by 5pm on the last day of each month. No changes will be accepted after this date each month.

-All non-league players (e.g. primary school non league players) to be registered by the end of October. 


ALL players must be registered – whether playing on a league team or not

You will find attached below all the documents that are required for the season ahead.


 - Junior Club Hockey Competition Rules 2022-2023 - Please make sure to read through the rules before completing entry forms to ensure each club is aware of player eligibility for competitions

Player Transfers
For the new season, a new transfer form has been introduced for players under the age of 18.  Please note a completed transfer form must be submitted for EVERY player who transfers into/out of Leinster Hockey Clubs.  The deadline for all transfers is 31st October 2022 for all U18 players. Completed transfer forms must be sent to the relevant hockey section youthadmin@leinsterhockey.ie and copied to transfers@leinsterhockey.ie. Incomplete transfer forms will be considered invalid and sanctions may be imposed if unregistered players are listed on a match card.

Safeguarding & Garda Vetting
A reminder to all clubs that all persons working with players under the age of 18 must have valid garda vetting and a valid safeguarding cert. 

 - A coach is required to have garda vetting done by the club even if they have been garda vetted elsewhere. Garda vetting is valid for 5 years.

 - Safeguarding certificates are valid for 3 years. If you are completing your Safeguarding certificate for the first time, it must be done in person. 

 - A refresher course is available but may only be done online if your last completed course was in person. Safeguarding certificates are valid for 3 years. 

 - If you have completed the online refresher course, your next course must be done in person. 


Fines/Penalties
The schedule of Fines and Penalties is available on the website and is also in the appendix of the Youth Club rules. Please ensure to take note of this document as this will be implemented in the youth section this year should it be deemed necessary.
