St Gerard's Secondary School

St. Gerard’s Secondary School is seeking suitably qualified and motivated Head Hockey Coaches for the 2026/2027 season to lead the following school teams:


  • Director of Hockey 
  • Senior 1 Prem
  • Senior 2
  • Junior 2


These roles are ideal for coaches who are passionate about player development, performance coaching, and creating a positive, structured team environment within a school setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver structured, age-appropriate training sessions focusing on technical, tactical, and game understanding
  • Lead and manage one of the above teams in training and competitive fixtures
  • Prepare teams for matches, including tactical planning, team selection, and post-match review
  • Promote positive behaviour, sportspersonship, and respect on and off the pitch
  • Provide individual feedback and support ongoing player development
  • Communicate weekly with players via Google Classroom
  • Supervise students at training sessions and matches, including travel where required
  • Officiate matches as required
  • Work collaboratively with other school coaches and the sports department


Requirements

  • Hockey Ireland Level 1 Coaching Qualification (minimum)
  • Experience coaching youth or school teams (desirable)
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
  • Willingness to comply with all school, Leinster Hockey, and safeguarding policies



Training & Match Times

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 15:45 – 17:00

Wednesday: 13:30 – 16:00

Saturday: Morning sessions

Pembroke Wanderers HC 

Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club is seeking an ambitious, energetic leader to drive the next phase of our youth programme.


The successful candidate will report to the Juniors Captains and will be a visible, hands-on presence, particularly on Friday evenings and Sundays.


The Role

● Oversee coaching delivery across 27 teams, manage coach schedules and

blitzing group allocations

● Lead and develop a network of approximately 60 coaches

● Implement and evolve player and coach development pathways throughout

Juniors and those progressing to senior hockey

● Identify and support talented players, nominating players for Leinster

development squads

● Develop and maintain the bank of age-appropriate coaching resources

● Liaise constructively with parents regarding player development, supporting

coaching team also in this work

● Schedule the coaches for our camps and work with this team to ensure great

coaching standards

● Help coordinate the Gaisce programme (supported by volunteers)


The Person

We are looking for someone with:

● Experience in youth sport coaching, whether in a club or school environment

● Strong, positive leadership and organisational skills

● The ability to raise standards while supporting and developing volunteer

coaches

● A genuine commitment to our core Juniors values: Respect, Support, Safety

and Friendship

Leinster Hockey - National Children's Officer (Voluntary)

Leinster Hockey is seeking a committed and experienced individual to serve as a Children’s Officer (Leinster) on a voluntary basis.


This is a vital governance role responsible for championing the safety, rights, and well-being of young people within hockey across the province. The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring that Leinster Hockey maintains the highest standards in safeguarding and child welfare, in line with national guidance and best practice.


The Children’s Officer will work closely with the Leinster Hockey Board and relevant committees, as well as liaise with Hockey Ireland to ensure alignment with national safeguarding frameworks.
