For the 2019-20 season the FIH introduced new rules relating to match timings.
In Leinster (for LHA competitions) the following will apply:

| Senior Women | 4 x 17.5 minutes | 4 x 17.5 minutes |
| Junior Girls (Club) | No change; not using quarters | 4 x 15 minutes (Junior JP Cup only) |
| Junior Boys (Club) | No change; not using quarters | 4 x 15 minutes (Benny Atkinson Cup only) |
| Secondonary Schoolgirls | Senior Premier League will be 4 x 15 minutes. No change to other league competitions ie, no quarters | 4 x 15 minutes (Senior Cup, Claudia Tierney, Senior Plate only). All other Cup Competitions match timings are unchanged. |
| Secondary Schoolboys | No change; not using quarters | Only All Ireland Qualifiers/Competition is moving to quarters |
| Primary Schools | No change ie., 2 x 20 minutes |
