Interpro Player Development Programme 2022-23

The 2022-23 Leinster Player Development Programme conducted assessments and development from April to June this year. There was a lot of competition for places. All players were released for July and the training panels commence their final assessment phase in August (all players on Irish U18/U16 panels should have finished their rest/recovery phase by the 8th).
Training camps and matches have been arranged for the weekend 13-14 August as follows
Leinster South U16: Residential camp in Kilkenny College, matches vs Connacht
Leinster Boys & Girls U16 & U18: Residential camp in UCC; matches vs Munster
Following these camps and matches selection will be made for the 2022-23 inter-pro squads and academy squads
InterPro squads will be have 16-18 players per squad
Training will be twice per month plus a match where scheduled
Players selected for national panels will be released after the inter-pros
Academy squads will predominantly be made up of players with 2 years of eligibility in their respective age groups
Players in the academy may be selected for inter-pro matches and invited to attend additional inter-pro sessions
In general the academy will train less frequently to the end December and ramp up after Inter-pros with reserve games to be arranged with other provinces
Players not selected on Irish training panels will continue training with the academy panel
Academy panels will be aiming to participate in training camps and tournaments at Easter
Provincial players not selected for Irish matches at Easter will be eligible for selection
InterPro Scheduled Dates
Venues are not yet fully confirmed;
Matches will be played around the country as per 2021-22 season
Gap in boys schedule to allow for All Ireland schools competition in October pushes their programme out to January

Junior Age Group players are expected to adhere to the Player welfare guidelines per Hockey Ireland welfare guidelines HERE

Academy Assessments will be scheduled at the end of October and again in February where it will be possible to look at players who have developed over the season
Players born 2009 (eligible for 2023-24 panels)
Regional development programmes will be run during the season in various locations
Regional teams will be selected from these programmes to participate in Leinster and National regional festivals in May
Coaching Panels 2022-23
Ideally each panel would have 3 asst coaches, with one focused on the academy players

Coaches/Managers for Leinster South would ideally be from that area; teams rotate their training venue between Wicklow, Wexford, Kilkenny and Kildare
