LHA South East 1st & 2nd Year Development
November 02, 2015
The LHA are launching a new development programme for players in South East Schools and Clubs. The programme will run along similar lines to the Leinster Schools and Clubs development which has been up and running in a regional format for the last 5 years.
- The target age group is 1st & 2nd year students.
- The players will be invited to attend up to 8 regional development sessions.
- The sessions will culminate in an inter-regional blitz within South East and ideally a further blitz with teams from around leinster.
- At the end of the 1st cycle. Players who are potential South East Inter Provincial level for 2016 will be nominated to join in an inter-provincial development panel. Thr remaining players will continue into a 2nd cycle of development for 2016, which hopefully will put them in contention for South East Inter-pros in 2017.
- Development sesions will follow Hockey Ireland's long term athlete development programme - Hooked on Hockey - and will be led by Hockey Ireland qualified coaches.
We are now inviting you to nominate 6 players to take part in the development sessions.
As a general guideline for nominations it is expected that the majority of nominations will come from the schools- but in exceptional cases a club may feel that a girl should be included especially if sh attends a non playing school. ml girls who are put forward for must be playing on their schools A team.
Each school can nominate up to 6 players (5 outfield and 1 goalkeeper or 6 out field and no goalkeeper)
All players nominated must be available for all 8 sessions which will be run from November to April.
Times, venues and cost will be sent out to parent's email address once all the names have been submitted.
Please reply through the google form:
Please return all nominations in by the 6th of November by the latest. No nominations will be accepted after this date.
U16, U17 & U18 Development.
The development cycle for girls eligible for U16 and U18 inter-provincial teams will commence after Christmas and a separate notice will issue.
- Girls who took part in 2014-15 and are still young enough top participate in either group will be automatically invited back to these sessions.
- Players who have finished with U16's (born 1999/2000) will automatically be included in the U18 development
- Schools/Clubs will also be given an opportunity to nominate differnent players if they feel that anyone has made significant progress since the previous year.
It's likely that there will be a shorter series of development/assessment/trials the U18 panel is trimmed to a training panel for the spring/summer.
The LHA hope to run an inter-regional/provincial development tournament in the spring and South East U16/U18 regional teams will be included in those events.
