Irish Senior Cup Weekend

Irish Senior Cup Weekend

October 29, 2015

While the excitement of Green Machine Olympic Qualification is still pulsing through the hockey community and the general public alike, the Irish Senior Cup commences this weekend. Round 1 could see a combination of impressive score-lines and close fixtures as clubs around the country battle it out for their place in Round 2. Both the men’s and the women’s Irish Senior Cups have rich histories and are the oldest competitions run by Hockey Ireland. The Women's Irish Senior Cup dates back to 1903, while the Men's Irish Senior Cup dates back to 1894 and is one of the oldest hockey tournaments in the world. Both competitions operate under an open draw format and culminate in an exciting Cup Final’s day at the National Hockey Stadium.
