Record breaking numbers playing Junior Girls Hockey

Record breaking numbers playing Junior Girls Hockey

September 17, 2015

The Junior Girls Club Section has seen an increase in numbers annually for each of the last six seasons.  The competitions are for players from 6th class to 6th year with the aim that the girls play with their peers in a fun filled environment while competing in league and cup matches.

So far this season a record breaking 199 Junior Girls Teams have been registered by clubs to play hockey in competitions which equates to an increase in participation of 18.5%.

Speaking about the numbers, Leinster Hockey President Percy Henchy said "it is absolutely fantastic to see so many young players getting an opportunity to participate.  It is a credit to all those who are involved in Youth Hockey within our Clubs to see the numbers growing each season.  I would particularly like to thank Ann Ronan and the Leinster Junior Girls Committee for their tireless work organising competitions and championing our game for this age group".

The Junior Girls Club annual fixtures meeting will take place on 22nd September at 7.30pm in Pembroke Wanderers.  More information on the season ahead can be found here (click here).

Fixtures once agreed will be updated to the website
