Under 18's Retain Interprovincials, Under 16 loose on Goal Diff
November 23, 2014
It was a hectic weekend in Three Rock Rovers HC this weekend where Leinster Hockey hosted the Boys Under 16 & Under 18 Interprovincials.
Both Leinster teams played two games on a very wet Friday with the teams winning their opening games against Munster. However, with second games following two hours later and conditions getting wetter by the hour, the teams lost their respective games against Ulster to finish the day with three points a piece from a possible six.
On Sunday, both the home sides know that they needed wins going into their final games against Ulster and in the case of the Under 16's a big win was required due to Ulsters superior goal difference. While both teams won, the Under 16 team were pipped by Ulsters better goal difference whereas the Leinster Under 18's retained the Interprovincial trophy with a 2-1 win.

Saturday saw both teams in action against Munster and all the players put the defeats of the previous evening behind them to produce excellent hockey and more importantly full points against their southern opponents.

A huge thank you to all the teams for their fantastic preparation and performance over the weekend - the athlethes put in huge performances under the guidance of their management teams. Thanks also to David Acheson, Tournament Director and his officials as well as the umpiring team under the guidance of Geoff Conn.
Our thanks also to Three Rock Rovers HC for the use of their facilities and to all the supporters who came out to cheer on our future stars.
