LHA Statement regarding Suttonians Men's 1st XI
October 16, 2014
Suttonians outlined various problems in recent years on the Mens side of the club,
culminating this year with results over the past number of weeks proving very detrimental and player numbers at a critical level.
Suttonians Mens HC dropped their 2nd team last season and are down to one team for 2014-15. The Mens Committee will do everything in their power to ensure the survival of all Mens clubs. To this end we have granted Suttonians request and removed them from Division 2 and placed them in Division 5.
Suttonians results in Division 2 will be null and void. Division 2 will become 9 teams. Any future fixtures involving Suttonians in Divsion 2 will become a free weekend for their opposition. Suttonians 1sts have no match this Saturday Oct 18th.
Division 5 will become 11 teams with the addition of Suttonians. Their first match in Division 5 will be Sat Oct 24th. They will have 4 back matches to play.
Division 5 matches will take place as normal this weekend and all results will stand. The new fixtures for Division 5 will be released latest Wednesday Oct 22nd.
As a result of imbalance now created in the leagues the following table outlines the planned promotion/relegation at the end of this season. This may be subject to change:
Division 2: promotion rules as per bye-laws, 1 team demoted
Division 3: 2 teams promoted, 2 demoted
Division 4: 3 teams promoted, 2 demoted
Division 5: 3 teams promoted, 2 demoted
Division 6-8: 2 teams promoted, 2 demoted
The Board has approved the determination by the Mens section and that it is our wish to assist any Club in the hope that they can regroup and recover.
End.
