Leinster Girls League Playoffs

It's been another hugely successful year for Junior Girls Hockey with 170 teams from across the province participating in age appropriate leagues - Extreme 8's (1st Years), Minor (2nd Years) and Intermediate (3rd to 4th Years). Our thanks to the Junior Girls Committee for their tireless work throughout the year ensuring as many young players as possible get a chance to play competitive hockey.
- 170 teams from across the whole of Leinster participated this year
- 15 divisions of 2 sections, with top 4 qualifying for a league or shield semi-final
- 58 semi-final games scheduled for 11-March at all levels across the province
- 29 finals scheduled for 8th and 15th April
- Finals are hosted by the clubs,
- each club is asked to reserve 3hrs in order that 2 finals can be hosted... and so that some teams get to play in a neutral venue)
- On the finals day, to make an occasion of it, each club is also asked to arrange for someone from their club to 'represent Leinster' and present the pennants and medals, inviting captains from both teams to make a speech
We have reminded the clubs regarding the behaviour expected at these development fixtures in the notice that went to all clubs this week. As mentioned before we have seen some outrageous scores submitted this season and generally feel that some are taking these competitions too seriously for what they are... an opportunity for the players to develop their hockey and form strong bonds with their clubs... our sport depends on these young ladies continuing in the sport
