Hockey Ireland seek panel of 'Young Hockey Leader Trainers'
November 21, 2017
Hockey Ireland is seeking to train up a panel of highly enthusiastic trainers to deliver occasional Young Hockey Leader courses throughout the hockey season. (Leinster, Munster and Connacht only)
The Young Hockey Leaders Award is a 5-hour long course that introduces young people, aged between 15 and 18, to volunteering in their hockey club or school. The aim of the programme is to encourage young people to enjoy all aspects of the sport of hockey rather than concentrating on playing only. The Young Hockey Leaders Award helps to pass on skills, top tips and most importantly confidence so that Young Leaders can get coaching and umpiring experience in order to put their new found knowledge to use!
The trainer must be able to deliver presentations on coaching and umpiring, but also deliver sessions for the Young Leaders and give feedback on their coaching and umpiring.
Applicants are subject to Hockey Ireland's recruitment procedure (this includes Garda Vetting and reference taking) must have:
- A minimum of Hockey Level 1 qualification and umpiring experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience of working with young people
- Experience of delivering presentations
- Flexibility to work during the hockey season
- A passion for hockey and for growing participation in sport
Successful applicants will be paid a fixed fee per course. If you are interested in becoming a Young Leader Trainer, please fill in the following form and send to info@hockey.ie before 5th Dec 2017.
