Funding available for Clubs - Tricks4Sticks
August 22, 2017
Make sure your club doesn’t miss out! Hockey Ireland are still accepting Tricks 4 Sticks applications for programmes to be run from Sept – Dec. The deadline for submission is 15th September 2017.
The following clubs have already benefitted from, or are due to receive support in 2017: Weston, Glenanne, Bray, Genesis, Foyle, Church of Ireland, NICS, University of Ulster (partnership programme), Waterford, Catholic Institute, Boyne, Gorey, Wexford, Enniscorthy, Railway Union, UCC (partnership programme) and Wicklow.
“T4S has helped us greatly to begin a process of introducing hockey into primary schools which have never experienced the sport before. Kids who have developed a taste for the game and want more are signposted to our club nights, raising player numbers. Foyle HC would recommend this programme to any club seeking to positively influence non hockey playing schools because they just have to say yes to participate in something which is free!”Alan McCague, Foyle Hockey Club
"Glenanne junior section has benefited enormously from Hockey Ireland’s Tricks 4 Sticks programme. So much so that the playing numbers have grown substantially. Going into local schools has aided this progression retention and development of young players from the Tallaght area. There's a buzz in Glenanne junior section again and the club members and parents are delighted. It would not have been possible without the support of the Tricks 4 Sticks programme and the continued efforts from the Glenanne junior coaches." Paul Byrne, Glenanne Hockey Club
Supported by the Sport Ireland, Tricks 4 Sticks sends a qualified hockey coach into local schools for an agreed number of weeks. Representing your club, the coach delivers a fantastic high energy hockey programme and creates links to your club. At the end of the programme the pupils are invited to visit your club grounds whilst the school also receives a ‘Tricks 4 Sticks pack’ to encourage them to continue playing hockey.
In 2017 we are also focusing on upskilling club coaches, as well as training Young Hockey Leaders within Tricks 4 Sticks clubs. Participating clubs will receive free places on the Young Leaders Programme, as well as Stepping Stones courses.
We have 2 funding streams available:
- Tricks 4 Sticks
Funding to help your club grow participation numbers in the local community.
- Tricks 4 Sticks in Disadvantaged areas
