Hatrick for Leinster Clubs in Irish Cup Finals
March 20, 2016
It was a huge weekend for Leinster clubs with three national titles up for grabs.
First up was Bray HC who took on Midleton HC in the Irish Hockey Challenge on Saturday. Despite going one nil up in the first half, they couldn't hold onto the lead and Midleton equalised within minutes. Despite lots of possession and short corners, it was well into the 2nd half before Bray HC took the lead. They managed to keep possession and go on to win 4-1 with goals from Alan Lewis (2), Stephen Jones & Cian Hussey.
The second final, the Irish Hockey Trophy between Kilkenny HC & Bandon HC was a much closer affair. Bandon drew first blood but Kilkenny leveled the score (1-1) before half time. Both teams netted twice in the second half to bring the game to penalty strokes which Kilkenny HC won 3-1.
Sunday saw Monkstown HC take on Lisnagarvey in the Men's Irish Senior Cup. Final score:
