Over 340 Players Shine at Leinster Hockey Regional Blitz 2026

What a fantastic weekend at our 2026 Regional Blitz.
The Leinster Hockey Regional Blitz took place last weekend across two days at Grange Road, bringing together over 340 young players to represent their districts in a fun, development-focused environment. The girls’ blitz took place on Saturday, followed by the boys on Sunday, with hockey running from 9am to 5pm each day across two pitches in a truly action-packed schedule.
The weekend proved to be another standout occasion in the development programme calendar, with players representing Dublin City, Fingal, South County, Leinster South, and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown. Each district fielded multiple teams, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the venue.
Leinster Hockey Player Development Manager, Claire Byrne said:

More than 340 players took part in the regional programme and blitz, representing their regions with pride and playing hockey of a very high standard. The atmosphere throughout was fantastic, creating a brilliant experience for everyone involved.
Alongside the competition, it was especially encouraging to see development umpires, coaches, and players all learning and progressing together, making it an enjoyable and rewarding weekend all round. And, to top it off, the players even squeezed in a little boogie during the break!”
It has been a particularly busy and exciting period for the development programme, with the Regional Blitz following a trip to the Hague Tournament for U16 and U18 Leinster and Leinster South boys’ and girls’ teams. There is plenty more to come in the weeks ahead, including the National Festival and the upcoming Interpros.
