Railway Union and Three Rock Rovers Claim Leinster Indoor Titles

St Columba’s College played host to a much-anticipated Leinster Indoor Finals Day, with the top teams from across the province competing for ultimate honours in both the Women’s and Men’s divisions. The finals delivered thrilling action and plenty of drama, making for a fantastic day of indoor hockey.
Women’s Division
The Women’s semi-finals saw Railway Union face Avoca, while Portrane took on Corinthians, with both matches producing highly competitive encounters.
Railway Union and Avoca began their semi-final in tight fashion, with Avoca causing early problems and testing Railway’s defence. As the game progressed, however, Railway Union’s experience and international quality began to show. Finding their rhythm, they pulled away to record a well-deserved 5–1 victory and secure their place in the final.
The second semi-final between Portrane and Corinthians was an outstanding contest and a real edge-of-the-seat affair. Both teams created excellent chances, but it ultimately came down to a single decisive goal. Portrane found that moment, claiming a narrow 1–0 win to book their spot in the final.
The final between Railway Union and Portrane was another superb battle. Portrane’s disciplined and resilient defensive performance kept them firmly in the game as Railway Union pressed to take control. Late drama saw Portrane produce a brilliant comeback, levelling the match at 2–2 in the closing moments to force the title to be decided by shootouts. A crucial save from the Railway Union goalkeeper proved decisive, as Railway Union emerged victorious to be crowned Leinster Indoor Champions. Men’s Division
The Men’s semi-finals also delivered plenty of excitement and high-quality indoor hockey.
Three Rock Rovers faced Portrane in the first semi-final, with a tight opening half seeing just one goal separate the sides at the break. After the interval, Three Rock Rovers raised their level significantly, producing a dominant second-half performance to pull away and secure an 8–2 win, booking their place in the final.
The second semi-final saw Avoca take on Corinthians in a closely fought encounter. Both teams enjoyed periods of control, with Avoca creating several promising opportunities but unable to convert. Corinthians remained calm and clinical throughout, capitalising on their chances to record a 5–2 win and progress to the final.
The final between Three Rock Rovers and Corinthians began at a blistering pace, with Three Rock Rovers making a fast start and building an early advantage. Corinthians showed great resilience to battle back into the contest and reduce the deficit to 3–2, threatening to swing momentum their way. However, Three Rock Rovers responded in style, finding another gear and scoring several goals in quick succession to put the game beyond doubt and claim a 7–3 victory, crowning them Leinster Indoor Champions.

A huge congratulations to Railway Union and Three Rock Rovers on being crowned Leinster Indoor Champions and booking their spot in the National Semi Finals in the Women’s and Men’s divisions respectively. For the remaining teams, there is still another opportunity to qualify for the National Finals through the upcoming Super Sixes Tournament, ensuring the indoor season continues to deliver plenty of excitement.
