Community Sports Facility Fund (Sports Capital Grant) Update

Community Sports Facility Fund (Sports Capital Grant) Update

November 27, 2025

It has been confirmed that within the next six months, the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport will open applications for the Community Sports Facilities Fund (previously the Sports Capital Equipment Grant). This fund is available to clubs across the province, and we encourage all clubs to start preparing their applications early. The last round of applications took place in 2023.

For an initial overview, you can listen to an interview with Patrick O’Donovan on the upcoming fund here.

Previous Funding Levels

In the last round, the funding available per application was as follows (note: amounts may increase in the next round):

  • Capital with title (Local): €200,000
  • Capital with no title/less than 15 years: €50,000
  • Maintenance Equipment: €40,000
  • Equipment: €70,000
  • National/Regional: €500,000

This is a significant opportunity for hockey clubs to enhance accessibility and sustainability, and to build lasting partnerships with other sports and schools. Funding has been used for equipment, developing new hockey pitches, and creating small multi-use sports areas in schools.
