School Boys 8v8 Finals Day

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 15th, marks the exciting 8v8 Finals Day! Hosted at The King’s Hospital, The High School and Rathdown this event will bring together schools from across the province for a thrilling Blitz Tournament – promising a day full of competitive and enjoyable hockey.
In this schools competition, teams are divided into three cup competitions: The Titan Cup, Phoenix Cup, and Atlas Cup.
- Titan Cup: Hosted at The King’s Hospital, starting at 12:30 PM.
- Phoenix Cup: Hosted at The High School, starting at 12:00 PM.
- Atlas Cup: Hosted at Rathdown, starting at 1:30 PM.
For schools entering multiple teams, their top team will compete in the Titan Cup, the second team in the Phoenix Cup, and the third team in the Atlas Cup.
The High School tournament features the largest number of teams, with each team playing four matches in the group stage, unless they advance to the semi-finals or finals. A big thank you to The King’s Hospital, The High School, and Rathdown for hosting these tournaments and supporting school hockey.
Tournament Details:
- Arrival: All teams should arrive 30 minutes before their start time.
- Match Format: 8v8 rules apply, including one goalkeeper per team.
- PCs: As per standard 8v8 rules.
- Umpires: Each school must provide an umpire for their games unless the host school supplies one.
- Bibs: Host schools will provide bibs for any colour clashes; the away team should wear them.
- Game Duration: 15 minutes each way, with a 3-minute turnaround between matches. Please be punctual to keep the schedule on track.
- Whistle/Horn: One main whistle or horn will signal the start and end of each game for smooth coordination.
- Scoring: The host school will provide a main scorekeeper. After each game, one umpire should submit the score.
- Tie-Breakers:Group ties will be decided by:
- Goals scored
- Goals conceded
- Head-to-head result
- If still tied: a quick 3-player, 1v1 shootout (8 seconds each)
- Extras: Host schools will provide music, and trophies will be awarded for each tournament.
