Paul O’Grady Appointed President of Leinster Hockey
September 11, 2025
Leinster Hockey is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul O’Grady as the new President of the Association.
Paul has been a familiar face in Leinster hockey for many years, contributing both on and off the pitch. At club level, he has played a key role in coaching with YMCA HC and has also been heavily involved on the administrative side of the game, particularly through his work with the Leinster Junior Boys Club Committee. His dedication, passion, and long-standing commitment to the sport make him an excellent choice for this position.
Reflecting on his journey in hockey, Paul credits his late mother and his children for inspiring his involvement in the game:
“My late mother was the real hockey player in our family. I played golf and tennis to a reasonable standard but my hockey playing career was short-lived!
My passion for the game really grew when my children started playing in YMCA Hockey Club. Since 2010, I’ve been a volunteer at the club, particularly helping to develop the youth section, and have served on various committees.
What has always struck me is the warmth of the hockey community across Leinster. Every club has an incredible base of volunteers – from umpires and coaches to parents and administrators – all giving their time generously.
I often say it’s my last year as an active volunteer, but there always seems to be another project to keep me involved! I look forward to my term as President and to hearing the views and experiences of schools, clubs, and all those involved in our sport.”
Leinster Hockey Chairman, Ken Miller, welcomed Paul’s appointment:
“It’s fantastic to have Paul as President of Leinster Hockey. He has worked tirelessly for many years to improve the game of Hockey and his experience, and drive will be a huge asset in this role and to Leinster Hockey”
Leinster Hockey warmly congratulates Paul on his appointment and looks forward to working with him as he begins his term as President.
