Biography:
Steve has been involved in sport all his life, from playing cricket and hockey for North Down in Comber, County Down, to Queens University Belfast, and since the mid-1990s at Railway Union Hockey Club in Sandymount. For over 30 years, he has served on committees at club, Leinster Hockey, and Hockey Ireland, including helping develop Hockey Ireland’s first strategic plan in the early 2000s. .
Steve spent more than 10 years managing the Ireland U21 Men’s Team and later the Senior Men’s Team, competing at the U21 Junior World Cup, European Championships, World Cup qualifiers, and the 2008 Olympic Qualifier in Auckland. He has chaired the Hockey Ireland High Performance Committee, served as a Board member of Hockey Ireland, and now volunteers on the Leinster Hockey Board, overseeing Interprovincial competitions and player development pathways. Steve is also Head of Junior Hockey at Railway Union Hockey Club, managing their junior programmes while supporting coaching and umpiring most weekends. .
