Bruce Bale

Role: Umpire Development

Biography:

Bruce represents the Leinster Hockey Umpires' Association (LHUA) on the Board, with responsibility for umpire development activity. This includes LHA's strategy to invest in club and young umpire programmes, and liaising with Hockey Ireland and IHUA, including on the umpiring pathway and education initiatives

Having started as a young umpire himself, Bruce currently umpires in the EY Hockey League, and also internationally. Having received his FIH badge in 2005, Bruce now has over 100 caps (receiving his Golden Whistle in 2022), and is currently on the Leading Panel - receiving appointments to the Pro League since its inception in 2019. To date, he has umpired at the World Cup (2023), Junior World Cup (2013 & 2023), Champions Trophy (2018), and EuroHockey Championships (2015, 2017 & 2019)

Bruce joined the LHA Board in October 2021.
