Two Women's teams selected for Masters World Cup

Ireland women are sending 2 teams to the Masters Hockey World Cup which is taking place in Rotterdam, Holland from 5th - 13th June, coinciding with the Hockey World Cup taking place nearby in The Hague from 31st May to 15th June.

25 women's teams (at age levels O40/45, O50 & O55/60) along with 49 men's teams (at age levels O40, O45, O50, & O55) are participating in the Masters tournament in Rotterdam, from 19 different countries.  The Irish women are competing in the O40/45 and O50 age groups.

The Irish O40s are coached by Guy Garrett and captained by Clodagh McMoreland, from Yeats County.  The squad includes ex international goal keeper Tara Browne from Galway, along with experienced defenders Emma Glanville and Linda Jenkinson.  The squad contains 9 Leinster players, from Loreto, Old Alex, Pembroke, along with Lorna Bagnell from Fingal Malahide, who makes her debut at this level. 

The O40s squad face teams from England, New Zealand and the Dutch O45s in their pool matches before the cross-over matches.

The O50s are coached by Ben Epstein and captained by ex international Maggie Hunter from Lisnagarvey.  Other ex internationals include midfielder Joanne O'Grady of Suttonians and centre forward Cathy Walsh from Cork Cof I, one of 4 players from that club.  All four provinces are represented on this squad with 6 from Leinster, including both goalkeepers, Helen Roche from Railway and Sinead Guilfoyle from Pembroke.  There are also players from Three Rock, Swords and Glenanne.

The O50s play in a round robin competition against teams from Australia, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, USA and Wales, followed by a placing match.
