IHL Pools announced for 2013-14 season

The IHL Competitions Working Group has today confirmed the pools for both the Men's and Electric Ireland's Irish Hockey League 2013 / 2014 season.

This season the pools are determined by ranking. The 12 qualified teams are ranked 1 through 12 based on their previous three IHL seasons.

Teams are then allocated to the pools as follows:
Pool A: Teams ranked:1, 4, 5, 8
Pool B: Teams ranked: 2, 3, 6, 7
Teams 9 to 12 are allocated to pools by the IHL Sub Working Group based on the following criteria:
- Provincial balance to pool (no pool to have more than 3 from each Province)
- Ranking position

Firstly to the men's 2013/2014 Irish Hockey League Pools.

Pool A pits last year's winners Lisnagarvey against Cookstown, Pembroke Wanderers, Instonians, Cork Harlequins and Three Rock Rovers who return to the IHL after a brief absence.

Pool B welcomes UCD men into the IHL for the first time and last year's runners up Monkstown who will compete against Banbridge, Annadale Cork C of I and Corinthian.

Over to the women's side of the competition and Pool A sees current title holders Railway Union fight it out against UCD, Hermes, Catholic Institute, Lurgan and newcomers Greenfields while pool B sees runners up Loreto pitted against Pegasus, Ballymoney, Ards, Cork Harlequins and Old Alex.
