Indoor League - Closing Date extended
July 04, 2013
Invitation to all LHA Affiliated Clubs for entries for the 2012/2013 Leinster Regional Indoor League
For the 2013/2014 season, indoor will be played by way of regional or province based qualifying groups progressing to an IHA Finals Weekend. The LHA will organise the LHA regional qualifying group (subject to numbers) and this document sets out the proposed
format for the qualifying group.
Competition entries
The competition will be limited to the first four mens clubs and first four ladies clubs which meet in full the complete entry requirements. Entries will not be accepted without:
1. Confirmation of one individual to represent the club on the indoor organising workgroup and
assist in the organisation of the competition. (contact details must be provided to verify the volunteer's
availability)
2. Confirmation of one individual to act as a tournament judge or umpire during the regional
indoor league. (contact details must be provided to verify the individual's availability)
3. Payment of the entry fee for the 2013/2014 indoor competition. The entry fee payable covers the LHA indoor club competition for 2013/2014.. The competition has been designed to be run on a break-even basis and the entry fee for 2013/2014 is â¬400.
On receipt of the first four complete entries, the LHA will note the next two clubs providing complete entries and hold these two teams as reserves. Should one of the four initial entries withdraw prior to the commencement of the competition, the LHA will replace that team with the next entered team from the reserve list.
Acceptance of entries for the competition (including the waiting list) has been extended to 08th July and in the event that fewer than four teams have entered the competition by that date, the LHA Board will decide if the competition will be run.
Competition format
The competition format will be announced when completed forms have been received and Indoor halls have been booked. It is anticipated that games may be played either mid week or on Sundays.
Venue coordinator - The role of Venue Co-ordinator is similar to that of a Tournament Director but for a shorter period of competition. Those interested in being considered for a venue coordinator should contact Claire Kelly at admin@leinsterhockey.ie who can supply a briefing note on the role.
Player registration
Only clubs affiliated to the LHA will be permitted to enter the Leinster Regional Indoor League. Each participating club may field players who are registered for that club for outdoor hockey as well
as players (no limitation) who are registered for a different club for outdoor hockey. However, a player may play for only one club in the regional indoor leagues and IHA Finals competitions during the same season.
Should a club seek to field players who have played hockey (indoor or outdoor) overseas
for another club, this will be permitted subject to the following restrictions:
1. The player (a "guest overseas player") must not play or have played in another club
indoor competition which is a European Qualifying Competition in the current season;
2. No more than two guest overseas players will be permitted within the club's indoor
registrations.
Finally, no player may play in Leinster Regional Indoor League unless they have attained
their 15th birthday.
IHA Finals Event
This season, the IHA has determined that there will be a single IHA Finals Day for the mens and ladies competition which will each be held over a Closed Date in January. There will be no senior outdoor IHA, provincial league or cup matches scheduled for the selected date. The winners of the National Indoor Trophy competitions will advance to represent Ireland in the European Indoor Club Championships in 2015.
The IHA will confirm later this summer the format for the IHA Finals Event but it is anticipated that either the top two or three teams emerging from the Leinster Regional Indoor League will advance to the IHA Finals Event.
The venue and date for the IHA Finals Event has to be confirmed but it will one of the dates on either the weekend of 4, 5 or 11, 12 January 2014.
All clubs intending to enter the Leinster
Regional Indoor League must confirm their entry, including names of nominated
volunteers to Claire Kelly at admin@leinsterhockey.ie. Entries will not be confirmed until receipt
of the proposed indoor entry fee.
Clubs are reminded that entries for the competition will close upon receipt of the first FOUR complete entries by affiliated clubs.
