Double Interpro Success for Leinster!

Double Interpro Success for Leinster!

August 24, 2026

The Leinster U16 and U18 Boys enjoyed another memorable weekend in Cork, claiming both Interprovincial titles and completing a brilliant double for Leinster Hockey.

Across three days of competition, both teams produced some outstanding performances and showed great determination throughout, ultimately retaining the double and bringing both titles back to Leinster.

A huge congratulations to all the players, coaches, management and wider support team involved throughout the programme. We would also like to thank the friends, families and supporters who travelled to Cork and got behind the teams throughout the weekend.

U16 Boys

The U16 Boys competed in four games across the three-day tournament, facing both Munster and Ulster twice as they battled for the Interprovincial title.

Day One saw Leinster face Munster in an entertaining opening fixture. The game finished 2–2, with Zain and Zac finding the net for Leinster. Munster secured the bonus point following a shootout victory.

On Day Two, Leinster and Munster again could not be separated, with the game finishing 1–1. Zac scored Leinster’s goal, before Munster once again claimed the bonus point through a shootout win.

This result left Leinster with plenty of work to do, but the team responded brilliantly in a crucial and tense battle against Ulster. Leinster produced the decisive moment of quality to secure an important 1–0 victory, with Patrick W scoring the winning goal.

The result set up an exciting final day with everything still to play for.

An earlier result between Munster and Ulster had opened up the table, with Ulster recording a 5–3 victory. This meant the final Leinster v Ulster fixture would be crucial, with a win enough to see Leinster crowned Interprovincial champions.

In another game filled with quality and attacking intent, Leinster found the key moments when it mattered most, securing a 4–2 victory and being crowned U16 Boys Interprovincial Champions!

U18 Boys

In the U18 Boys competition, Leinster faced Munster three times across the three days, with both sides determined to claim the Interprovincial title.

Day One saw an absolute cracker to open the U18 tournament, with Leinster and Munster both attacking the game with real intent. It was an end-to-end encounter, with both sides showcasing plenty of attacking quality.

Leinster came out on top in a seven-goal thriller, securing a 4–3 victory. Ben, Alfie, Scott and Juan all found the net for Leinster.

On Day Two, Leinster had the opportunity to clinch the Interprovincial title as they faced Munster once again. This time, the game was a more controlled and closely fought encounter, with Munster eventually coming out on top with a 2–1 victory. Alfie scored Leinster’s goal, setting up a winner-takes-all final day.

The final game between Leinster and Munster was all to play for, with both sides knowing that victory would secure the Interprovincial title.

Once again, the teams produced a game to remember, with both sides showing attacking intent throughout. It was Leinster who came out on top in another brilliant encounter, securing a 3–2 victory and being crowned U18 Boys Interprovincial Champions!

An incredible performance and a huge achievement for the squad.

The achievement is a fantastic way to cap off an exciting Development Programme season, which has provided the players with increased match and development opportunities, alongside a memorable trip to The Hague Tournament earlier in the year.

A special thank you also goes to AerCap, whose continued support of the Leinster Hockey Development Programme helps us provide these opportunities and continue to develop young players across the province.

A huge well done to everyone involved!

All eyes now turn to the Girls Interprovincial Tournament, which takes place from August 28th–30th at Grange Road, where our Leinster and Leinster South U16 and U18 teams will compete on home soil.
