Railway Union Make It Three-in-a-Row on Cup Finals Day

The AIG Irish Senior and Junior Cup Finals took centre stage at Grange Road on Saturday, delivering another standout day of hockey filled with drama, quality, and history being made.
Railway Union Women claimed their third AIG Senior Cup in a row, becoming only the second women’s side to achieve three consecutive titles in the competition’s 100-year history. Old Alex also secured a big win in the Junior Cup, while Corinthian and Three Rock Rovers produced excellent performances but were just edged out on the day.
Women’s AIG Senior Cup: Monkstown 0–2 Railway Union
A tightly contested all-Leinster clash saw Monkstown aiming for a statement win, while Railway Union targeted a historic third consecutive title.
Railway controlled much of the possession early on but were unable to convert their chances, with both sides going into the break scoreless. The breakthrough came in the second half when Aisling Utri scooped the ball over the Monkstown goalkeeper to open the scoring.
Railway continued to apply pressure, with Monkstown defending resolutely to stay in the game. Eventually, the pressure told as Utri added her second, assisted by Katie Mullan, to secure a 2–0 victory and a historic three-in-a-row for Railway Union.


Men’s AIG Senior Cup: Three Rock Rovers 3–3 Lisnagarvey (Lisnagarvey win 3–1 on shootout)
A thrilling encounter brought the day to a dramatic close.
Three Rock Rovers started brightly, taking the lead through Ryan Spencer, assisted by Evan Jennings, and carried that 1–0 advantage into half-time. Spencer struck again in the third quarter to make it 2–0 and put Three Rock firmly in control.
However, Lisnagarvey responded quickly, earning a penalty stroke just four minutes later to reduce the deficit. With momentum building, Lisnagarvey found an equaliser from a penalty corner with seven minutes remaining.
Three Rock responded almost immediately, with Spencer completing his hat-trick to restore their lead. But in a dramatic finish, Lisnagarvey converted from a penalty corner on the second attempt after an initial save to level the game once again.
The match went to a shootout, where Lisnagarvey held their nerve to win 3–1 in a gripping finale.


Women’s Irish Junior Cup: Old Alex 2–2 Railway Union (Old Alex win 3–2 on shootout)
Another fantastic contest saw two Leinster sides go head-to-head in an entertaining encounter.
Old Alex took the lead 15 minutes in through Clara Garcia in a game that remained finely balanced throughout. In the fourth quarter, Railway Union struck twice in quick succession to take control of the tie.
Old Alex continued to push and were rewarded with a late penalty corner, which Emily Sexton deflected to the net to force a shootout.
In another tense finish, Old Alex held their nerve to win 3–2 on shootouts and claim the title.


Men’s Irish Junior Cup: Corinthian 2–3 Lisnagarvey
Corinthian looked to cause an upset against favourites Lisnagarvey and made the perfect start, taking the lead just three minutes in through captain Ciaran O’Shea.
Lisnagarvey responded eight minutes later and began to build momentum as the game progressed. Despite a strong defensive performance from Corinthian, Lisnagarvey added a second and third goal to take control.
Corinthian showed great determination, pulling one back late on to set up a tense finish, but Lisnagarvey held on to secure the Junior Cup title.
