March 31, 2026
The Men’s Division 1A Play-Off Finals took place on Saturday at Trinity College Sports Ground, with both the Plate and League Finals delivering an exciting conclusion to the season.
The new play-off format, introduced this year to enhance competition within the division, has been well received and added a new level of excitement to the closing stages of the league.
As the regular season concluded, the top four teams progressed to the league semi-finals. In the Plate competition, Dublin University advanced directly to the final, while Weston and Rathgar faced off earlier in the week, with Weston coming through a dramatic shootout after a 2–2 draw.
The league semi-finals also produced thrilling encounters. Kilkenny and UCD could not be separated after a 1–1 draw, with Kilkenny progressing via shootout. Glenanne delivered a strong performance to secure their place in the final with a win over Railway Union.
Finals day began with the Plate Final, as Dublin University hosted Weston. Dublin University applied early pressure and created several chances, while Weston responded well and remained competitive throughout. The decisive moment came through Ed Collins, whose goal secured a 1–0 victory for Dublin University and the Plate title.

Attention then turned to the League Final, where Glenanne and Kilkenny battled for the Division 1A crown. It was a tightly contested game, with both sides enjoying periods of control. The match finished 1–1 in normal time, leading to yet another shootout. Glenanne held their nerve to win 3–0, securing the title and capping off a fantastic final.
A huge congratulations to all teams involved, and a special mention to our winners, Glenanne and Dublin University. The play-off format brought real excitement to the closing stages of the season, and our thanks go to all players, coaches, and clubs for their efforts throughout the campaign.
