Leinster Hockey: Proud to Support the Total Respect Charter
October 07, 2025
Leinster Hockey is delighted to be one of the first organisations to sign and support the Total Respect Charter.
The Total Respect Charter was announced by Hockey Ireland on September 12th ahead of the new hockey season. This important initiative calls on everyone in the Irish hockey community to commit to fostering a culture of respect at all levels of the game.
Leinster Hockey fully supports and echoes this message of total respect across every aspect of our sport. How we treat each other says everything about us and about hockey as a whole, and we are committed to ensuring that our behaviour and practices reflect the values of Total Respect.
There are eight key components highlighted in the charter:
- Respect – Accepting others for who they are, creating an inclusive environment
- Fair Play – Accepting the rules and the spirit behind the rules
- Sportsmanship – Showing integrity and respect for opponents, officials, and spectators
- Teamwork – Working together for the team, both on and off the pitch
- Excellence – Striving for improvement and doing your best, not just winning
- Discipline – Applying the rules of the game and being honest and fair
- Integrity – Consistently adhering to strong moral and ethical principles
- Enjoyment – Have fun and enjoy being part of a team
We encourage clubs throughout the province to share, support, and consistently implement these guidelines to help create an even better hockey experience for everyone.
Clubs are also encouraged to officially sign up to the Total Respect Charter. You will also see the list of clubs and organisations already signed up to The Total Respect Charter.
