Leinster Hockey – September Review
September 30, 2025
September was a busy and exciting month both on and off the pitch as the new Leinster Hockey season got underway. Here’s a look back at some of the key highlights:
Interprovincial Tournaments
It was a fantastic Interpro campaign for our Leinster and Leinster South Boys and Girls, with all teams showcasing great skill and commitment throughout the tournament.
- Our U16 and U18 Boys were crowned All-Ireland Champions in Lisnagarvey.
- The Leinster Girls U18s narrowly missed out on the title, finishing second and level on points with winners Ulster after a tense and exciting tournament.
- Both Leinster and Leinster South U16 and U18 squads delivered strong performances, with plenty of standout individual displays across the weekend.
Special congratulations to Sienna Boucher, Annabel O’Leary, Laragh Coughlan, Daisy Costello, Luisa Kennedy, Stephen O’Leary, Joshua Cron, Luke Murphy, and David Rankin, who all picked up individual awards for their outstanding performances.
Leinster Leagues
The domestic season is now in full swing, with plenty of exciting hockey already on display across the province:
- The Women’s Leagues are well underway, with strong starts from teams across all divisions.
- In the Women’s EYHL Qualifier, four teams — Monkstown, Avoca, Naas, and Corinthians — remain unbeaten heading into Week 5. Over 35% of the league has yet to lose a match, though no side has managed a 100% record so far. It’s shaping up to be an exciting few weeks ahead!
- The Men’s Leagues have also begun strongly, producing thrilling matches over the first two weekends. Clontarf, Portrane, and Kilkenny have made convincing starts with 100% records. Our full Men’s EY Qualifier Preview is also available online.
We’d like to wish the very best of luck to all clubs competing this season across every division — as well as our Leinster representatives in the EY Hockey League.
Other Updates
- Paul O’Grady has been announced as the new President of Leinster Hockey — congratulations to Paul on his appointment.
- We encourage clubs to send or tag us in matchday photos and video clips so we can share and showcase as many games and moments as possible across our channels.
- Leinster Hockey is proud to have joined the Total Respect Campaign, led by Hockey Ireland.
- We’re also excited to launch our new Boys’ Club 5-a-Side Blitzes, designed to keep boys involved in the sport and encourage more players to get started. Full details on how to take part will be available on our website this Thursday.
