Anna Richardson announced as Development Programme Manager

March 12, 2021

The Leinster Hockey Association are delighted to announce that Anna Richardson has been appointed to the Development Programme Manager role as part of the Player Development and High Performance programme.

As DPM Anna will be responsible for setting up and rolling out the district and regional development centres across Leinster. The focus in the centres will be on the entry level players. While the centres will primarily focus on player development they will also provide a platform for young umpire development programmes and for local club/school development activities.

Anna has been a coach with the Leinster Performance panels for the past number of years, most recently as Assistant Coach with the U16 girls.  Anna has experience in an administrative capacity at club level and really good understanding of the current systems, shortfalls and the ambition for the future of player, umpire and coach development programmes across Leinster.

“This is a huge step forward for Leinster as we hope to see plenty of development taking place around the province where the emphasis will be on player development and not on selection for inter-provincial panels. Ultimately the centres will be a bridge to the high performance inter-provincial panels.  In the first year we hope to see Leinster Inter-District competitions involving all participants before regional teams are selected to participate in a National Festival in Spring 2022.”

Ann Ronan LHA Director - Inter Provincials and Player Development

“We are very much looking forward to Anna's leadership in rolling out our exciting development programme, incorporating integrated Umpire Development in conjunction with the Leinster Hockey Umpires Association and our member clubs”

David Curran, LHA Director - Umpire Development

“I would like to congratulate Anna on being appointed to this critical role in the development of hockey throughout Leinster and wish her success in delivering what is an exciting programme. I would also like to acknowledge the support of AerCap which has made this appointment possible.”

Trevor Watkins, Chair of the LHA Board

“We are delighted to support Leinster Hockey’s ambitious high performance player and coach development programme. We wish Anna all the very best in her new role.”

Aengus Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of AerCap
