Players have been attending trials and development sessions throughout the summer

The coaching teams are now starting to narrow down the panels and the intention is to name the final panels by the end of August, before the return to school/college.

Inter-Pro Junior Age Groups (U16 & U18) 

When selected the Inter-Pro panels will have up to 24-28 players, leaving room for additional players to be added to the squads during the season if appropriate.

Panels include reserve players from the development age groups (e.g. U15 & U17) who will train with the competition panels.

Matches will be played on Sundays over the course of the season as per Hockey Ireland Calendar.

There will be two panels in each age group for the girls – Leinster and Leinster South.

Only 16 players will be selected for inter-provincial competition matches (17 if there are 2 x GKs, each to play half a game).  It is expected that players will train with their junior clubs if not selected for a match.  Development matches will be arranged for the reserves during the season

On an inter-pro match weekend, players should play their club (or school) game on the Saturday as normal, their Leinster match on Sunday – with a mandatory rest day from all Hockey on the Monday.

Leinster South U16 & U18

Development sessions are ongoing for Leinster South with circa 140 players involved.  The training venues are rotating between Wexford, Wicklow, Kilkenny and Kildare.  Panels will be announced later in August.

Emerging Talent / Academy Players: 2007 Players (Girls)

Given the lack of hockey played over the last year, additional training sessions have been scheduled for girls born 2007.  Following these sessions, some players may be invited to join the Inter-Provincial winter panels.

Emerging Talent / Regional Development: 2008 Players (Boys & Girls)

A pilot for the regional development programmes were run in July for boys and girls. Plans to run further cycles are in progress.
