Note - The Government has announced that the 2020 Sports Capital & Equipment Programme will open on 11th December. All Leinster clubs are urged to apply for funding. More information on the process can be found at Click Here
The session will cover the dos and don’ts of the Sports Capital programme and how our clubs can come out on top. Since 2014, 2into3 have secured approximately €1.3m in Sports Capital funding for clubs around the country. Based on evidence, between 10%-20% of all applications will be invalid, meaning that the applications were completed incorrectly. Only the top 75% of valid applications will receive funding, which is based on a scoring system. Hockey Ireland is facilitating this workshop in order to encourage our clubs to apply and assist them in being successful with this programme, while also limiting invalidity.
Up to now, our clubs have not had consistent experience in applying for these grants. Of the total of €52m that was open to clubs in the 2018 round, 20 hockey applications secured slightly over €658,000. In applying, 36 hockey applications sought over €1.8m in funding. This figure was an improvement on previous years, but we have room to improve ahead of the next round of Sport Capital funding.
It is hoped that this event will help encourage more of our clubs to apply. While the programme funds significant infrastructure work, such as pitch development and redevelopment it also funds non-personal sports equipment which can include hockey balls, gym equipment, team jerseys and much more. Other hockey equipment such as indoor hockey boards, mobile training goalposts, pitch dividing ropes, sets of hockey sticks for social and introductory hockey programmes are eligible for funding. Many hockey clubs are not aware of this up to now.
This is your opportunity to gain valuable insight from experts on a programme that is expected to receive over 2,500 applications this year. With the publishing of Budget 2021, a new round is expected to open before Christmas.
