LHA Inter Provincial Development 2019 Update (Girls Programme)
The LHA Interprovincial assessments for girls are coming to a close over the coming few weeks. 500 players have been assessed (an additional 68 nominated players did not attend).
A training panel for the U16 inter-pros will be selected to train over the summer months. This programme will include a strength and conditioning component. Players will be strongly encouraged to take their family holidays and a forced break will be included in the programme to ensure all get a break.
29 players on national panels do not join the programmes until after they are released by Ireland. As 27 of these will be trialling for the U18 team next August it’s unlikely that we will run a major summer development programme for players not involved in the national programmes.
LHA Girls Stage 1 (born 2006)
Following the initial assessments, a large group of players have been invited to attend 2 x development sessions. The players will also be taking part in short/small sided games next Sunday in Bray HC/Loreto Bray from 12:00 – 15:00. That will conclude the Stage 1 assessment/development phase for this group of players.
After the blitz, the coaching team will identify a number of players to be brought back for evaluation during 2019-20 season. The evaluations will involve players born 2005 and 2006, from which the 2020 interprovincial training and development squads will be selected.
Outfield Players involved next Sunday:
LHA Girls Stage 2 (born 2004 & 2005)
Following the assessments, a number of players were invited to participate in 4 x development sessions and a blitz last Saturday.
The following players have been invited to participate in training games with Munster and Ulster Development squads on 25th and 26th May. The players have been advised which group they will prepare for the matches with and what training session they should attend in advance.
Matches will take place from 12:00 – 18:00 in Rathdown School and a schedule of matches will be posted on the Leinster Website in advance
Following the training matches, a smaller development squad of 24-30 players will be invited to participate in the summer programme. The inter-provincial squad will be selected from this group next August
